The Washington County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to providing the most dependable and efficient law enforcement service possible. Consequently, it is very easy to contact an officer or have one respond to your residence.

The 911 system in Washington County was created to consolidate dispatch for emergency service agencies in Washington County, which includes the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the Johnson City Police Bureau, and the Jonesborough Police Department, as well as all county fire and rescue personnel.

911 is a separate entity from all emergency response agencies in Washington County, and is headed up by a director and board members, who are appointed by the county mayor and county commission.

It is the request of 911 officials to have all calls for service, both emergency and non-emergency, to come in through the enhanced 911 call system, in order to expedite service to the citizens of Washington County.

Therefore if you need an officer to respond to your residence, or you only need to speak with an officer for advice, please feel free to call 911.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is headquartered in Jonesborough, and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. If you need to speak with an officer at this location, you can dial (423) 788-1414 and the receptionist will direct you to the appropriate department. (i.e. Criminal Investigations, Community Relations, Patrol Operations, Administration, Support services, and the Detention Center in Jonesborough) This number is always manned, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
