To apply for a position, pick up an application in person from the Sheriff’s Office in Johnson City, or download it below. Turn in the completed application packet at the Downtown Center Courthouse, completely filled out with all supporting documentation..

All applications are kept on file for a period of six months. All  applicants must be 18 or older for civilian positions and at least 21 for sworn or detention positions. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, pass a thorough background check, and complete a medical examination and a psychological evaluation. All applicants that have previous military experience must have been honorably discharged.

After an interview, applicants tour the Detention Center, where newly hired personnel start their careers. This is a challenging position that provides invaluable experience in a team environment.
