The Washington County Detention
Center Medical Department consists of an on call physician, a dentist,
a Medical Director, and 7 nurses (LPN's) that are on duty at all times.

All platoons have an assigned
nurse who makes all medical related decisions throughout their shift regarding
all inmates.
In addition, they have various
assigned duties and they are as follows:
- Administer medications during each shift.
- Conducts medical assessments of arrestee's
to determine if further medical attention is needed.
- Blood monitoring of all diabetic inmates.
- Mandatory exams of all inmates who are
incarcerated for more than 14 days.
- Tuberculosis screening.
- Assist the dentist.
- Conducts daily sick calls of all inmates
who request it.
- Screening of all inmates for work detail.
The population of the Detention
Center can be as high as 600 inmates. To provide you with a better understanding
of the magnitude in which is dealt with monthly, here are some figures.
- 33 medical transports
- 295 sick calls
- 74 work detail screenings
- 162 14 day exams
- 16 DNA's
